All Distributors of the Enviro Loo - provides a maintenance service; on a contractual basis to ensure the sustainable operation of the system. This includes; regular-on site preventative maintenance; followed by a detailed service report. However, as can be seen from the maintenance procedure below, owners can comfortably perform this task themselves if they choose to. The maintenance schedule depends largely on the volume of usage and climatic conditions. While high usage units may need to be serviced and waste removed more often. The lower usage unit may only need attention less frequently.

Periodic - Maintenance Procedure 

  • Open the rear external inspection cover
  • Check that the liquid level is below the drying plate and that the system is in an aerobic state of operation i.e liquid and solid waste are separated by the drying plate. If necessary, pump out and remove all liquid from the liquid holding area. This is accomplished by inserting the pump's pipe through the service hole located in the drying plate.
  • Rake solid waste from under the pan section towards the open rear-end section of the drying plate.
  • Remove any bottles, cans , plastics etc from the unit and safely dispose from site.
  • Insert the dried waste in the plastic bag or bucket and safely dispose per local authority regulation.
  • Lightly cover the remaining waste with normal garden compost.
  • Add approximately three handfuls of new compost to the front section of the unit via the ceramic toilet bowl.
  • Ensure free operation of the wind turbine on top of the external vent pipe.
  • Ensure free air flow to side inlet pipes. 

Tools required

    • Long handle narrow head steel rake                                                           
    • 8mm spanner or socket
    • 3/8th spanner or socket
    • Shovel
    • Container /bag for safe removal of waste from the site

Daily Cleaning 

  •  Inside the toilet cubicle ensure that normal hygienic cleaning procedures are maintained on a daily and regular basis.

This includes:

  • The ceramic toilet bowl must be cleaned using a damp toilet brush using only organic cleaners and no chemical detergents whatsoever
  • The toilet seat can be cleaned with detergents ensuring that any excess does not enter the ceramic toilet bowl
  • Check that the toilet seat is always secured with the provided locknuts
  • Ensure that the toilet lid is left in the closed position after cleaning the toilet bowl
  • Walls, floor, ceiling, doors and door handles can be cleaned using normal or suitable chemical detergents
